We like this product’s build quality, size, and functionality. We’ve heard of 100W in-plane outlets but have not yet seen one in the wild. If the laptop tries to pull more than that, the outlet’s safety will disconnect. That said, travelers should note that 75W is typically the maximum wattage for plane seats. We haven’t tested the 120W version, but if you have a laptop that draws more than 60W, consider that model instead of the 90W. The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays. Note that prices may change, but this is what we’re seeing as of July 25, 2022. The EZQuest UltimatePower 90W costs $79.99 (MSRP official page), but you can find it on Amazon for $69.99 (affiliate link), and there’s even a more interesting 120W version for $79.99, Also on Amazon (affiliate link). That’s not true if your laptop uses a proprietary power connector. The head did not look exactly like my original but figured it was just a design change. Likewise, if you lose your laptop charger, it’s easy to procure a new USB-C charger worldwide. I searched Amazon for my airbook model and 45w charger and this came up. We try aligning all our devices (including toothbrushes) to the USB-PD charging standard so we can easily have backup chargers or share chargers among colleagues. We would rather carry a single power supply like this to power a small laptop (like the Lenovo X1 nano) and a couple of mobile devices rather than having the three original device chargers. In our use case at Ubergizmo, we’re heavy travelers. I tested it with different phones, and the charger maxed out the mobile device’s USB PD (Power Delivery) rating, so this works well. That means you can charge three devices at a very high speed or even power a light 60W laptop and charge two mobile devices simultaneously. The EZQuest UltimatePower 90W features two USB-C and one USB-A port, which allows it to output up to a combined 90W power over USB-C or split the power to charge multiple devices.

An optional charger accessory is often sold for $45 or more (for a 45W power).Īnd that’s where high-performance chargers like this EZQuest UltimatePower 90W GaN Wall Charger come into play, particularly for power users who may have multiple USB-C devices to recharge. However, some phones can charge at 60W, 80W, or 180W! At the same time, many OEMs no longer provide a high-speed charger with the smartphone, citing goals of reducing electronic waste. Fortunately, modern smartphones charge faster than just a few years ago, and it’s widespread to see 25-40W charge speeds. I can't guarantee it'll work every time but it will definitely lower the chances. With battery capacities for most smartphones limited to 5000 mAh, the following battery life challenge is to recharge what you have quickly. Then flip the switch.no spark. That should help lower the chances of the adapter from blowing out. plug the laptop into the strip with it turned off. LPT: get a cheap power strip with an on off switch. If you take the charger in and out of an outlet frequently here's a tip. I'm here for the low cost for a functional charger. My Dell chargers are 20 years old and still fire right up.

poof.like as if it was planned obsolescence. My first OEM charger went out on me from plugging it into an outlet and it caused a spark. I only unplug my MacBook from the charger and I don't usually take the charger with me. I've had it for a few months now after I had a power failure at my house and my 2nd OEM one decided to take a dump cuz of the surge. I took a chance and I think for me it's a win. Leaving it plugged in and just taking the laptop does the job for me. I don't unplug my laptop from the wall very much so any short circuit will occur there as it has in the past with my OEM chargers.

The sticker on the charger isn't quite right.also it rattles inside.īut the big question is does it work, yes. It's a thinner box, looks almost like the original. Tl dr: Not OEM, Works for the price and quick shipping.
